Weingut Jus Naturae

Low Intervention Wines

The winery Jus Naturae was founded in 2020 by Florian Wecker with the support of France Dejonckheere. Before that, both had worked as lawyers and founders but had not found the passion or sense of purpose they were seeking.

As a passionate wine enthusiast, Florian participated in the 2016 grape harvest at the Alois Lageder winery in South Tyrol (Italy), where his enthusiasm for viticulture and oenology was fully ignited. Following a six-month internship at the same winery under the guidance of Georg Meissner, the estate manager and a leading figure in biodynamic winemaking, Florian decided to make a radical career change and become a winemaker.

This decision led him to pursue a master's degree in Viticulture and Oenology in Montpellier, Bordeaux, and Lisbon, accompanied by practical experiences in Portugal's Douro Valley (Niepoort), Mendoza in Argentina, and finally on the Mosel River at the biodynamic winery Rita and Rudi Trossen. There, Florian fell in love with the wines and terroir of the Mosel. He was also fascinated by the lively and precise natural wines that Rudi Trossen bottled.

When the opportunity arose to acquire a wild, top-tier steep slope with old Riesling vines in Kinheim, Florian and France did not hesitate and restored the vineyard, which was threatened with forced grubbing. This laid the foundation for Jus Naturae. Today, the winery cultivates 1.3 hectares of vineyard area, focusing on top steep slopes with old Riesling vines.
