Out in the countryside between Randers and Viborg, surrounded by an apple orchard and Danish idyll, lies Cold Hand Winery—a place where senses awaken, stories come alive, and some of the world's best fruit wine is produced.
It ferments and bubbles, both in the high-ceilinged production hall and in our minds and hearts. Producing some of the world’s finest fruit wines is a wonderful pleasure and an ever-evolving process that constantly surprises us. We believe it’s possible because we steer clear of fruits that are turned into excellent wines elsewhere. Instead, we focus all our efforts on Danish fruits and berries, which reach their full potential right here where we live. The temperature shifts of late summer bring out a unique Nordic acidity profile that is pure, fresh, aromatic, and worth its weight in gold.
Our winery is a working laboratory where we experiment tirelessly to find the exact tones and notes that bring us closer to the world’s best fruit wine—wine made from Danish apples, pears, rhubarb, cherries, blackcurrants, and quince.
Transforming nature’s harvest into world-class wines and liqueurs makes us happy, proud, and humbled all at once. We go above and beyond, diving deep into the details in our pursuit of the best product. Apples aren’t just apples, and cherries aren’t just cherries. We know the varieties like our own children, and the work to achieve the perfect acid-sweetness balance is a true detective mission where we optimize the harvest and handle every step with utmost care.
Our fruit wine adventure is built on groundedness, curiosity, and a desire to share a great story. Each year, we welcome thousands of curious visitors to our winery. With open arms, well-prepared storytelling, and contagious enthusiasm, we guide guests through fragrant tanks and beautiful oak barrels before offering them a tasting experience to remember. We hope you’ll pay us a visit.
